How to Get "minimize to System Tray" feature back in Windows Live Messenger (WLM) in Windows 7?

Windows 7in if youWindows Live Messenger used, you may have noticed that it does not minimize to system tray when you click the minimize button in WLM titlebar. Instead, about in the taskbar, just like any other program.


In earlier versions of Windows that used to sit in the system tray on clicking the minimize button. You can use this feature in Windows 7 compatibility mode trick using enable:

If you do not use compatibility mode to trick we share today, a free and very small utility that Windows Live Messenger automatically patches of EXE file to bring back the minimize to system tray feature in Windows 7.


"WLM tray Patch" change is a freeware which changes what hex code to WLM executable file and the good old minimize to system tray feature back.


You have to run the patched, select the Windows Live Messenger from EXE- Patch file and click the button. It also creates a backup file so that you can restore if you are not satisfied with the tool. To restore the original file, enter the patched restore again and click the button.
