Microsoft has released a new update for Windows 7 and Server 2008 r2 users who have a new feature to these operating systems.
This new update you can increase the maximum transfer of USB storage devices in Windows that will help in improving performance of USB devices. After you install this update, you can increase the transfer of the maximum size of 64 kilobytes (KB) to 2 MB (megabyte) to USB to improve performance.
You just need to follow these simple steps to USB storage devices performance in Windows 7 to improve:
1. First download and install the update by using the following link:

2. Now regedit Type RUN or start menu searchbox and press Enter. It will open the Registry Editor.
3. now go to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\usbstor
4. Under usbstor key, create a new key VVVVPPPP so the final path would be:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\usbstor\VVVVPPPP
5. Now in the right pane, create a new DWORD value MaximumTransferLength
6. Double click this new DWORD value set Base , to decimal and value data 2097120set

That's it. Restart the system and get ready to enjoy enhanced performance USB storage devices in Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2.
