After the announcement of Google +, it's time for another interesting announcement from Google.
Google today announced a new URL shortener g. co. Here's what Google says about it:
In the world of URLs, bigger is not always better. In 2009, we helped shrink to long, cumbersome URLs by the launch of our public URL shortener, Goo.GL. Today we announce a new URL shortcut that will only link to the official Google products and services: g. co.
The shorter a URL, the easier it is to share and remember. The disadvantage is, tell you often not what website you'll be redirected to. We will only use g co. to take you to Web pages that are owned by Google to send, and only we g. co shortcuts can make. That means you a g. co shortcut trust that you'll always end up on a page of a Google product or service may visit.
There is no need to fret about the fate of goo.GL; We want as much as you do, and nothing changes on that front. It remains our public URL shortener that anyone can use to shorten Urls on the web.
Keep your eyes open as we start rolling out g co. as our official URL shortcut for Google websites.

Really interesting move by Google. What do you think?
