Google shows "seems your computer is infected" message at the Top of Google search results page

If you 'your computer is infected seems"is displayed in a yellow alert box at the top of the Google search results page, you should definitely see your computer with a good anti-virus and anti-spyware scanning.


Google has announced that it will show the above warning for computers that are infected with a certain strain of malicious software or malware. The warning message also contains a link to Google page you how proposes to fix the infection.


Here's what Google says:



The Internet brings remarkable benefits for society. Unfortunately, some people use it for damage and their own benefit at the expense of others. We believe in the power of the web and information, and we are working every day repelling the attacks to detect potential abuse of our services.


As we work to our users and to protect their information, we discover sometimes unusual patterns of activity. Recently, we found some unusual search traffic while performing routine maintenance on one of our data centers. After along with safety engineers at several companies that this modified traffic sent, we determined that the computers that exhibit this behavior with a certain strain of malicious software, or "malware infected". As a result of this discovery, today that some people see a prominent notice at the top of their Google web search results.


This particular malware caused infected computers send traffic to Google via a small number of intermediate servers "proxy". We hope that by taking steps to users whose traffic through these proxies is to sign up, we can help them update their antivirus software and the infections are also deleted.

Note that:

The malware seems to have gotten on the computers of the users of one of about a hundred variants of fake antivirus, or "fake AV" software in circulation for a while. Google is not aware of a general name for the malware.A few million machines are affected by this malware.Most people might think about the potential for an attacker to copy our communication and users try instead refers to a dangerous site. It is a good security considerations careful about the links that you click, so that the spirit of these observations is spot-on. The announcement appears only at the top of our search results page. Faking the message on this page would require prior compromise of that computer, so the announcement is not a risk for the additional users.
