Good news for Linux users! KDE 4.7.0 final version is released that comes with the new KDE applications, workspaces, and development platform releases for new features, improves stability and performance.
The new version contains important updates for the KDE Plasma workspaces, KDE applications, and the KDE Platform that provided the basis for KDE software.
The official announcement shares some new and exciting features for KDE 4.7.0:
Plasma workspaces are more portable
The workspaces Plasma getting extensive work on KDE's compositing window manager, KWin, and leverage new Qt technologies such as Qt Quick.
Updated KDE applications bring many exciting features
Many KDE applications have been updated. Is added back in particular, KDE's Kontact groupware solution, to the main KDE release cycle with all major components ported to Akonadi. The Digikam Software collection, KDE's feature-rich photo management tools comes with a new major version.
Enhanced multimedia, Instant Messaging and semantic possibilities in the KDE Platform
A wide range of KDE and third party software will benefit from extensive work in Phonon and major improvements to the semantic desktop components, with enriched APIs and improved stability. The new KDE Telepathy framework provides integration of instant messaging directly in the workspaces and applications. Performance and stability improvements in almost all components lead to a smoother user experience and a lower footprint of applications using the KDE Platform 4.7.

It also includes the technical preview and historic first release of the new IM solution for KDE. Even though it is still in its infancy, you can have all kinds of bills, including GTalk and Facebook Chat set up and use them in your daily life. The chat interface, you can choose from many gigs with her support Adium themes. You can also adjust the presence Plasma widget right in your control panel for managing your online status. If this project is not yet mature enough to be part of the big family of the KDE, it is packaged and released separately, in addition to the other large parts of KDE. In addition to the many new features that are described in the release announcements, KDE contributors more than 12,000 bug reports (including more than 2,000 unique bugs in the software released today) have closed since the last major releases of KDE software.
